Remerciements de Sparta Capital à Gérard Lopez

Sparta Capital s'apprête à prendre le contrôle à 100 % des Girondins de Bordeaux. La transaction requiert encore le maintien du club en National 2 par le CNOSF, mais avec le financement apporté vendredi 31 juillet dans la journée par Sparta, avec la participation de Park Bench, nous avons bon espoir que la relégation sera finalement évitée.

Alors qu'une nouvelle page s'ouvre dans l'histoire des Girondins, nous souhaitons rendre un hommage sincère à Jogo Bonito et à Gérard Lopez pour leur engagement au service du club durant ces cinq dernières années. Lorsque Jogo Bonito a repris les Girondins de Bordeaux, le club était au bord de la disparition. Cette reprise a permis de sauvegarder une institution historique du football français et de préserver son avenir.

Depuis lors, des investissements considérables ont été réalisés afin de reconstruire le club et de lui redonner les moyens de retrouver la place qui est la sienne. À plusieurs reprises, les Girondins sont passés tout près d'accéder à l'échelon supérieur. Un investissement record a notamment été consenti en Ligue 2 dans le seul objectif de ramener le club à sa place naturelle.

Face aux difficultés financières et sportives rencontrées, des décisions courageuses ont également dû être prises. La restructuration du bilan du club a constitué une étape particulièrement difficile, mais indispensable. Grâce à ce travail, les Girondins disposent aujourd'hui d'une situation financière beaucoup plus saine et d'une structure de coûts durablement assainie, bien plus solide que celle héritée lors de la reprise. Ces fondations offriront au club les moyens de construire son avenir avec davantage de stabilité.

Conscient qu'un nouveau cycle devait s'ouvrir, Gérard Lopez a accepté de travailler avec Sparta Capital afin de trouver de nouveaux investisseurs capables d'assurer la continuité du projet et de poursuivre le développement des Girondins de Bordeaux. Au terme d'un processus exigeant et complexe, cette opération a pu être finalisée dans les tout derniers instants, grâce à Park Bench.

Au cours de ces derniers mois, nous avons eu l'occasion de travailler quotidiennement avec Gérard Lopez. Nous avons pu constater son implication constante, sa disponibilité et sa volonté de toujours privilégier l'intérêt supérieur du club. Son rôle a été déterminant dans l'aboutissement de cette transaction. Sans son engagement personnel et son soutien jusqu'aux derniers instants, cette opération n'aurait pas pu voir le jour.

Nous savons également que ces dernières années ont été humainement éprouvantes pour lui. Gérard Lopez a été profondément touché par les nombreuses critiques dont il a fait l'objet. Pourtant, nous avons pu constater qu'il n'a jamais cessé d'agir avec la conviction de servir les intérêts des Girondins de Bordeaux. Au-delà des circonstances, nous retenons
avant tout son engagement, sa persévérance et son attachement sincère au club.

Nous souhaitons également adresser nos plus sincères remerciements à l'ensemble des salariés, des joueurs, du staff, des bénévoles et, bien entendu, aux supporters. Leur fidélité, leur passion et leur attachement au club, même dans les moments les plus difficiles, ont été une source d'inspiration et une preuve de la grandeur des Girondins de Bordeaux.

A Note of Thanks from Sparta Capital to Gérard Lopez

Sparta Capital is about to take 100% control of Girondins de Bordeaux. The transaction still requires the CNOSF to keep the club in National 2, but with the funding provided by Sparta on Friday 31 July, with the backing of Park Bench, we are hopeful that relegation will now be avoided.

As a new page opens in the history of the Girondins, we wish to pay sincere tribute to Jogo Bonito and to Gérard Lopez for their commitment to the club over these past five years. When Jogo Bonito took over Girondins de Bordeaux, the club was on the verge of collapse. That takeover made it possible to safeguard a historic institution of French football and to preserve its future.

Since then, considerable investment has been made to rebuild the club and give it the means to regain its rightful place. On several occasions, the Girondins came very close to promotion. A record investment was made in Ligue 2 with the sole objective of returning the club to its natural place.

Faced with the financial and sporting difficulties encountered, courageous decisions also had to be taken. The restructuring of the club's balance sheet was a particularly difficult but indispensable step. Thanks to that work, the Girondins today have a far healthier financial position and a sustainably rebased cost structure, considerably more solid than the one inherited at the time of the takeover. These foundations will give the club the means to build its future with greater stability.

Aware that a new cycle had to begin, Gérard Lopez agreed to work with Sparta Capital to find new investors capable of ensuring the continuity of the project and pursuing the development of Girondins de Bordeaux. After a demanding and complex process, the transaction was completed in the final moments, thanks to Park Bench.

Over these past months, we have had the opportunity to work with Gérard Lopez on a daily basis. We have seen his constant involvement, his availability and his determination always to put the club's interests first. His role was decisive in bringing this transaction to a conclusion. Without his personal commitment and his support until the very last moment, this deal could not have come about.

We also know that these past years have been personally taxing for him. Gérard Lopez was deeply affected by the many criticisms directed at him. Yet we have seen that he never stopped acting with the conviction that he was serving the interests of Girondins de Bordeaux. Beyond the circumstances, what we take away above all is his commitment, his perseverance and his sincere attachment to the club.

We also wish to extend our most sincere thanks to all the staff, players, coaching staff, volunteers and, of course, the supporters. Their loyalty, their passion and their attachment to the club, even in the most difficult moments, have been a source of inspiration and proof of the greatness of Girondins de Bordeaux.
