Victory in Paris (3-0)

Bordeaux beat Paris FC for the first time

D1FéMININE - Saturday, November 23, 2019 - 16:44

Bordeaux got the better of Paris FC for the first time in their D1 history.

Nothing could stop the Girondines this afternoon: not the wind, not the rain, and certainly not the sad spectacle of an empty stadium in the Parisian suburbs. This was a crucial game, and Pedro Martinez Losa put on a fantastic performance to breeze past Paris FC.

Losa made just one change to last week's starting line-up, with Maëlle Garbino replacing Emelyne Laurent.

Viviane Asseyi got stuck in straight away, the France international firing in an early shot which ricocheted off the wrong side of Pechermann's post (2', 0-0). The hosts attempted to answer back, but ran into a Bordeaux defence that was seemingly impenetrable.

Viviane Asseyi had a decent penalty call denied in the 20th minute, as the Girondines continued to dominate proceedings with a confident collective performance. After some neat build-up play in midfield Delphine Chatelin delivered a perfect cross for Khadija Shaw, who headed home to open the score with her 9th goal of the season (34', 1-0). Bordeaux kept flooding forward and doubled their lead just before the break, with Viviane Asseyi providing the finishing touch to an excellent delivery from Khadija Shaw (2-0, 42').

Paris FC made two attack-minded changes at half time, but still couldn't find a way through the Bordeaux defence. And just as the hosts seemed to be dominating possession and getting closer to the Girondines' goal, a stinging counter-attack made it 3-0 Bordeaux. Breaking free down the left-hand side, Viviane Asseyi swung in a cross which was deflected off a Parisian defender straight into the back of the net (3-0, 73').

Bordeaux return from Paris with 3 points, anothe clean sheet and a provisional third place in the league table (awaiting the result of the postponed Montpellier match).
