The Girondins de Bordeaux are delighted to announce the arrival of Toma Basic. He has signed a deal which will keep him at the club until 2022.

Toma Basic was born on 25th November 1996 in Zagreb. He turned professional with NK Rudes, a club based on the outskirts of the Croatian capital, in 2014/2015. He made 25 appearances in the Croatian second division before joining Hajduk Split the following season

The Croatia U21 international went on to make 75 appearances for the country's second biggest club, including European qualifying matches.

Basic is primarily a defensive midfielder, but also has a keen attacking instinct - he racked up 11 goals and 14 assists for Hajduk Split. He recently provided two more assists in the Europa League, in Split's 3-2 win over Slavia Sofia.

Having represented his country at U19 level, Toma is now part of the Croata U21 set-up. He recently helped his country seal qualification for the next Euro U21 tournament.

We're thrilled to welcome Toma to the Girondins family, and wish him all the very best for the season ahead.

Toma will be presented to the media on Friday 10th August 2018 at 10:00 at a press conference at the Château du Haillan.
