Younousse Sankharé was born on 10th September 1989 in Sarcelles, and trained at the PSG youth academy. His professional career began in 2007-2008, with 9 appearances in Ligue 1. He then spent a period on loan with Stade de Reims (Ligue 2) before returning to Paris. That year he played a total of 22 matches before going out on loan again, this time to Dijon.
It was there that Younousse's career really took off, with 27 appearances and six goals in Ligue 2. He played a decisive role in getting Dijon promoted to the top flight, and opted to stay on at the club for another year. But despite his best efforts, Dijon's spell in the top flight was to be a one-season affair.
After a few more L2 games for Dijon in the early days of the 2012-2013 season, he returned to the top flight with Valenciennes before making a permanent transfer to Guingamp. Under the guidance of Jocelyn Gourvennec, he rapidly adapted to life in the top division and was part of the side that won the Coupe de France in 2014 - a third domestic honour, after the League Cup 2008 and Coupe de France 2010 with PSG.
During a brief spell with Lille, Younousse Sankharé played in 21 of the club's 22 league matches and scored twice.
Having played for France as a schoolboy and Senegal as a full international, Younousse is a player of considerable experience. He has racked up a total of 289 professional appearances (scoring 23 goals), including 198 in L1 and 11 in European competition. Now 27 years old, he is in peak physical condition with a thorough understanding of what it takes to succeed in Ligue 1. He also has form working with Jocelyn Gourvennec, after three seasons together at Guingamp.
Younousse joined the Girondins from Lille in the January transfer window, looking to play more first-team football. That wish has been granted in Bordeaux, and he was one of our top performers in the latter half of last season. He made 18 appearances in all competitions, providing three assists and scoring five goals. Younousse is an expansive, physical player who loves to get forward and attack.
