Théo has a point to prove
Since joining Bordeaux at the age of 15, the young left-back has worked his way up through the ranks. Many Girondins supporters got their first glimpse of this young talent at the Stade de France in 2013, when Théo started for the U19s in their victorious Coupe Gambardella final against Sedan (1-0).
That victory was the start of big things for young Théo. Called up by Francis Gillot for the UEFA Europa League tie against Tel-Aviv, he played 15 minutes of the game in Israel. He backed that appearance up with a solid performance in Ligue 1 against Valenciennes in December (2-1). Théo was now part of the first-team squad, making further league appearances against Reims (1-0) and Evian (2-1). A total of four games and 285 minutes played in his first season at the top level.
The summer of 2014 was a decisive moment in Théo's career. His promising performances earned him his first professional contract with the Girondins (3 years - 2017). He also earned his first international caps, being selected for the France U20 squad for that year's Toulon Tournament. France reached the final, but were beaten by Brazil (2-5). Théo is a young player bursting with talent, as comfortable defending as he is lending his pace to a rapid counter-atack.
After a season-long loan with Paris FC, picking up invaluable experience of battling in a lower division, Pellenard returned to Bordeaux. In the 2016/2017 season Théo made nine appearances in all competitions, including six games in Ligue 1. Théo Pellenard is a promising young player who keeps getting better.
