Paul Bernardoni is a young goalkeeper who started his career with ESTAC Troyes. He was born in Evry on 18th April 1997, and spent spells with AS Lieusaint and ESA Linas-Montlhéry before moving to Troyes in 2013. He rapidly earned the trust of his coaches and started his first game for the Troyes reserve side on 12th April 2014. His rapid progress didn't stop there, and in July 2014 he signed his first professional deal with Jean-Marc Furlan's team. His first professional appearance in Ligue 2 came in March 2015.
After playing a key role in Troyes' successful promotion campaign, Paul Bernardoni made 14 appearances in the top flight in the first half of the 2015-2016 season, with his Ligue 1 debut coming in August 2015 against Gazélec Ajaccio.
In the meantime, he has been steadily rising through the ranks of the French national youth teams: U17, U18, U19 and now U20. He has already racked up a total of 17 caps in all categories.
Paul was a key player for the Girondins' reserve side in 2016/2017, spending much of the season with the CFA2 squad in order to gain more experience. Paul has also been in action with the France U20s in recent months, being voted goalkeeper of the tournament. A well-deserved accolade for a player who trains so hard all year round.
