Explosive, fast, selfless
Born in Bordeaux on 16th August 1992, Maxime Poundjé is a left-back and pure product of the Girondins' Youth Academy.
After spending two years in the reserves under the watchful eye of Patrick Battiston, he followed in the footsteps of his hero Benoît Trémoulinas.
Maxime's apprenticeship continued with a season on loan at Nîmes Olympique (National) in 2011/2012.
Back in Bordeaux, Maxime made his professional debut with the Girondins in the 2012/2013 season. His first taste of Ligue 1 came in a substitute appearance in the game against Evian on 11th August 2012.
He played in a total of 7 Ligue 1 games that season, plus two in the Europa League and one in the Coupe de France. Despite his young age, he stepped up to the challenge admirably.
In the 2013/2014 season Maxime continued to make progress and earn the confidence of manager Francis Gillot.
Since the arrival of Jocelyn Gourvennec in 2016, Maxime has made seven appearances in Ligue 1. Since the winter break he has been primarily playing with the reserves, as he continues to improve and mature as a player.
