Official statement from the club

CLUB - Monday, March 9, 2020 - 12:30

The club's response to the current coronavirus epidemic.

As per the measures announced earlier this week by French Health Minister Olivier Véran, all gatherings of more than 1000 people are currently forbidden.

The aim of this measure is to impede the spread of Covid-19 (coronavirus), which has already infected thousands of people worldwide.

The French authorities have decided that only "events considered to be of national importance" will be maintained.

The Girondins de Bordeaux are, of course, fully on board with the efforts to combat this virus. We would also like to express our support to all those affected, directly or indirectly. Public health remains, as always, the top priority.

We have also been informed of a planned meeting at the Ministry for Sports, with representatives from the Ligue de Football Professionnel. We are awaiting further instructions from the Préfecture de Gironde on the measures to be taken for our upcoming home fixtures in Ligue 1

We are fully aware that many Ligue 1 matches will need to be either postponed or played behind closed doors.

Please be assured that we are taking all necessary measures, and working closely with local and national authorities to find a solution. We will update fans with further information as soon as possible.
