ANNIVERSAIRE - Tuesday, October 1, 2019 - 18:42
From Jean Swiatek to Benoît Costil, check out the Club's birthday video.
Officially founded on 1st October 1881, the "Girondins gymnastic and shooting society," the forerunner of FC Girondins de Bordeaux, celebrates its 138th birthday this week. It wasn't until 1910 that this local sports club launched its first football team, though this first attempt would only last one season. One hundred years ago, in 1919, the Football Club des Girondins de Bordeaux was born.
Since turning professional in 1936, FC Girondins de Bordeaux has been Champion of France six times (1950, 1984, 1985, 1987, 1999, 2009), winning four Coupes de France (1941, 1986, 1987, 2013) and three League Cups (2002, 2007, 2009) along the way. The Girondins have also left their mark on Europe, as finalists of the UEFA Cup (1996, C3) and semi-finalists of the Champions League (1985, C1) and European Cup Winners' Cup (1987, C2).
A history to be proud of! Allez Bordeaux !
