Bordeaux unlucky at home (0-1)
Girondines lose out to Soyaux
D1FéMININE - Saturday, November 24, 2018 - 16:49
In their 11th game of the D1 season, the Girondines slipped to a narrow defeat against Soyaux.
Bordeaux started brightly, with multiple chances in the opening stages of the game. Claire Lavogez almost put the Girondines ahead when she connected with Andrea Lardez's cross in the first minute.
There followed a volley of chances for Jérôme Dauba's side. Viviane Asseyi came within inches of breaking the deadlock on several occasions in quick succession (6', 7' and 8th minutes). Clearly, the Girondines did not have luck on their side today.
After this fiery start, things calmed down considerably. Bordeaux continued to dominate, but their only sight of goal came from set pieces. On two occasions (25' and 45') Claire Lavogez saw her efforts thwarted by the Soyaux keeper.
After the break it was Soyaux's turn to threaten, when a floated effort from Bourgoin ricocheted off Romane Bruneau's left post (46'). Barely a minute later Viviane Asseyi was back on the attack, but Soyaux keeper Romane Munich was implacable today.
The breakthrough finally came in the 81st minute - for Soyaux. Sarah Cambot stepped up to take a free kick 30 yards from goal. She duly fired past Romane Bruneau to give the visitors a late lead.
The Bordelaises kept on pushing to the end, but to no avail. Soyaux were solid at the back, protecting their narrow lead right to the very end of the 4 minutes of injury time. The Girondines will be hoping to bounce back in style when they travel to Rodez next weekend.
