Big win in Metz (4-0)
Girondines with a resounding away victory
D1FéMININE - Saturday, November 16, 2019 - 16:40
Bordeaux thrashed Metz 4-0 in Lorraine this Saturday.
On a cold and rainy day up in Lorraine, Pedro Martinez Losa's side were looking to keep the ball rolling after last week's victory over Soyaux and next weekend's tricky away tie with Paris FC (Saturday 23d November at 14:30).
The Spanish coach's team sheet read as follows:
Metz may be struggling in the table at the moment, but they are not short of quality players - starting with ex-Girondine Melike Pekel. Nevertheless, Bordeaux made their dominance felt from the outset, with Metz forced to sit back and hope for a chance to counter-attack. There were few clear chances on goal in the first twenty minutes, and the game took a while to get going as both sides conceded an uneccessary number of fouls.
After 23 minutes, with the latest in a series of long balls, Claire Lavogez picked out Viviane Asseyi who squared the ball for Inès Jaurena. Jaurena's strike ricocheted first off the crossbar then off the back of Metz keeper Lerond, before finally ending up in the back of the net! (1-0)
Lerond may have got unlucky on this occasion, but elsewhere she was the only thing standing between Bordeaux and an extensive lead (33', 36', 52'). She finally cracked again in the 54th minute, pulling down Claire Lavogez inside the box. The referee smartly decided to play the advantage, allowing Khadija Shaw to collect the loose ball and score Bordeaux's second goal (2-0).
The Girondines were well and truly dominant now, and Romane Bruneau tore strips off the Metz defence before Khadija Shaw, in a moment of exceptionally generous team play, teed up Claire Lavogez for goal number three (3-0, 79'). The Jamaican international soon added her own name to the score sheet, with a superb header from a no less superb cross swung in by Delphine Chatelin (4-0, 84').
Bordeaux remain in fourth place in the D1 Féminine table, with an away trip to Paris FC to look forward to next weekend.
